West Region Results - Week 7

East Kilbride maintained their winning run in West 1 with a comfortable 51-14 win over league strugglers Irvine.  Thanks to Carrick & Newton Stewart drawing 25 each in the 2nd v 3rd contest, East Kilbride now find themselves further ahead at the top, and must now be thinking their visit to the Regional leagues has just been a one season affair.  Although Irvine are without a win, they're still only three points behind Helensburgh who suffered a heavy 44-7 home defeat against Oban, who before the weekend were sitting in 2nd bottom place.

In West 2, league leaders Cambuslang had the weekend off, so it was a chance for the chasing pack to close the gap. A comfortable 48-18 win away from home for Stewarty, whilst Paisley had a tighter win against Cumnock, 34-23. At the foot, Lenzie won the derby tussle at Cumbernauld 40-3, leaving Cumbernauld one point behind Waysiders, but WD have a game in hand.

It was a big weekend in West 3, with the top 4 jostling each other for position. Strathendrick beat Strathaven 27-10, meaning Endrick remain unbeaten, having conceded only 18 points. Uddingston won the battle of 2nd v 3rd, coming out on top against Loch Lomond 20-17. At the foot of the table, we now have three teams on 11 points, after Birkmyre beat the Police 38-17, and Bishopton beat Wigtownshire 8-6. Wigtownshire and Moffat find themselves only two points ahead of this battle, so the contest for promotion and relegation is looking pretty tasty here.

In West 4, Glasgow Uni Medics find themselves clear at the top, but this is due to the Lanark game against Clydesdale being off. Clydesdale have only played one competitive game to date, so it's not looking good for them and they could soon be the third team to withdraw from West 4 this season. The University boys themselves had a comfortable 69 - 10 victory over Shawlands. Whilst Mull cruised to a 48 - 0 win in the "derby" against Argyle & Bute.
