West League Update (West 3) - 29th October 2018

We only had three games in West 3 at the weekend as Police Scotland Glasgow again had trouble raising a team.

This is PSGs' third non-fulfillment this season, so it’s now getting to the worrying stage as one more probably means they’re out of the league.  At this time, they’ve had a total of 12 points deducted, leaving them at the foot of the table having only played four games.

Despite having played each other over the previous few rounds, the top three in West 2 had started to open a bit of a gap at the top, but with Bishopton visiting Uddy on Saturday, it was their chance to get themselves in among the contenders. However it was not to be for the Holmpark men as they went down to a heavy 48 nil defeat.

If we were to go by the Predictor odds, there was only one close contest in West 1 on Saturday and that would be at Stewartry where Kilmarnock were the visitors.  The Predictor showed that the majority of us (and by some margin) expected the top 3 Clubs to win their games – 87% for Glens, 96% for Greenock and 86% for EK.

SRU Consultation on Domestic League Structure

Scottish Rugby is surveying Member clubs in relation to the structure of the domestic leagues.

The survey forms part of season structure review which is looking at potential changes to the format of the Premiership and National League structure for next season, as well as coming up with further structure proposals for season 2020-21.

West League Update (West 3) - 23rd October 2018

The big West 3 game at the weekend saw leaders WD make the trip to second-placed Cowal.  Both have been scoring plenty of points whilst not conceding too many. It had the potential to be tight, even though the Predictor odds had it down as a comfortable WD win. WD did win, but at 24-5, it wasn’t as dominant as some of their earlier season results.

West League Update (West 2) - 23rd October 2018

The weekends action saw West 2s title contenders in opposition, with Lenzie cementing their lead at the top with a dominant 64-5 win away at Bishopton, which leaves only Uddy and Oban who have been able to match the Lenzie power.

Lenzie stretched their lead at the top, as while Uddy came away with a 15-7 win over Oban, there was no bonus point for either of the chasing pack.  The Predictor odds had Oban as favourites for this game, but there doesn't sound as though there was much between the two sides.  Uddy are only three behind Lenzie, but they have played a game more.
