Last weekends only scheduled West 3 game should have seen Strathaven traveling to Arran, but this was off as Arran were unable to field a team. Arran have struggled with numbers several times this season and as a result have a number of unfulfilled games to their name, so it's perhaps no surprise that they've announced they're withdrawing from the league.
Arrans withdrawal has a fairly big impact on the league as all their results get reversed out.
In the championship battle, Strathendrick are still top, but now only two points ahead of Uddingston. Endrick have four games remaining whilst Uddie have three.
At the foot of the table, Arrans withdrawal makes a crucial difference.
Moffat were eighth on 25 points, two ahead of Strathclyde Police, with Wigtownshire on the same points. After reversing out the Arran games, the revised table now shows PSG trailing Bishopton by 7 points, with PSG game having only one game remaining. PSG are therefore destined to finish ninth, along with the 8 week wait for the end of the National league season to see how many West teams are relegated from National 3. Two West teams down, and it could be West 4 for PSG next season.
However, with McLaren having withdrawn from West 2 earlier in the season, it's not clear what will happen with relegation as there's a potential shortfall in numbers.
Overall the lower end of the West regional leagues is looking increasingly unsustainable.
We currently have 36 teams in the West leagues (including Clydesdale who have so far only managed 5 games this season). Championship rules state the top league in each region must be 10 teams, leaving us with 26 teams split between the current three leagues.
