The hack affected the database that holds information about a subscribers education and training history including first name, email address and encrypted passwords.
World Rugby say they do not believe that passwords were compromised or that any other of their digital platforms were affected.
World Rugby has attempted to contact all subscribers affected by email, and have recommended:
- changing password for any other account on which you used the same or similar information used for the World Rugby education and training portal
- reviewing your accounts for suspicious activity
- being cautious of any unsolicited communications that ask for your personal data or refer you to a web page asking for personal data
- avoiding clicking on links or downloading attachments from suspicious emails
World Rugby notes they acted immediately to determine the "nature and scope of the issue", and have taken steps to prevent a repeat situation.
