Predictor Challenge Update - 20th October 2018

The consensus view of the Predictor Challenge entrants gave us a few games that were in the balance, but over the fixture list there were a number of pretty clear cut results expected; well guess what, our game once again gave us a wee kick up the backside.

The success rate of this week accumulated Predictor is down a fair chunk to 61%, thanks mainly to the "shock" results in the Garnock v Greenock, Dalziel v Cumnock and Loch Lomond v Clydebank games - but as has been pointed out by many on social media, for those in the know, these weren't shocks.

It's great for the game and adds a bit of spice to each contest knowing that despite what others think, so long as you're in the game, you're in the game.  It's why so many of us play sport.

Despite the "shocks" and the drop in overall success rates, we have a couple of entrants who recorded a pretty impressive result at the weekend.

Across the West 1 competition, we have two entrants, (Bruce Beggans & Mark Ellison) who scored 100%, whilst over the full league campaign, Magoo scored an impressive 13 from 15 (86.7%), with Bruce Beggans, Mark Ellison and Thomas, one behind on 80%.  Our own predictions success rate is 67% across the 15 games played, but we scored only 50% in the West 1 games (we really should stick with home advantage where the games are going to be tight).

But things could have been so much different this week as we had several games go right down to the wire.  There were only three points in it between Annan & Stewartry and Loch Lomond & Clydebank, and only two between Millbrae & Wigtownshire.  We also followed the game in Fintry on Twitter and it looked for a while that Endrick would pull off the fourth shock of the weekend, but they appear to have run out of steam with about 20 minutes to go - the fine margins that keeps our sport interesting.

We're now into week 7 of the Predictor Challenge and we've had 110 different entrants (GlensGirl was our 100th entrant, so there's a WeegieRugby hat for you if we ever find out who you are).

Between us, we have have made 3,353 predictions across the matches which have been played with an overall success rate of 64%.  To give a bit of perspective, we have been including a random results entry each week (that video with the cards), and that's currently sitting on a 50% success rate.

A quick look at this weekends games suggests we could have a few close contests with games between promotion and relegation contenders, but where are this weeks "shocks" going to come from.
