Director of Rugby Development, Sheila Begbie MBE, has today provided Clubs with information on how Rugby Development will operate following the announcement that Scottish Rugby plans to furlough staff in line with the Government Job Retention scheme.
Rugby Development staff have been asked to take furloughed leave from 20th April through to 31st May 2020, though some staff will continue in post to provide support to Clubs and to plan the restart of rugby operations once the Government indicate it's safe to do so.
All Regional Managers have been placed on furloughed leave, with Regional Directors staying in place to deal with urgent enquires from Clubs.
The Rugby Development Administration team continues to operate, but at a reduced capacity.
The Competitions and Compliance team are preparing for the new season looking at scenarios including both a business as usual fixture list as well as developing contingency plans should restrictions prevent a whole season of fixtures.
Coach, referee, S&C and first aid courses have been put on hold until further notice, with all regional Coach Development Officers furloughed until the 31st May.
Unsurpisingly, Scottish Rugby have announced Tartan Touch won't run this summer, but Clubs who were due to run a venue will have their applications carried forward to next year.
