Scottish Rugby announces changes to results collation ahead of season 2021/22

In recent years, results have been collated by Ron Evans phoning round Clubs, but Rons passing leaves a major gap.

“His work ethic was unbelievable,” Scottish Rugby Union president Ian Barr said in a tribute. “Scottish Rugby has lost a great friend and servant of the game and a true champion of our clubs. His passing is a huge loss personally and a major blow to Scottish club rugby.”

Many of us will have received a weekly phone call from Ron Evans of Rerite Sports (he'd been doing this since the late 1990s), with him collating Premier, National, Regional and reserve team results which were used not only by Scottish Rugby, but also various press outlets.

His coverage of club rugby in Scotland was astounding, with Scottish Rugby noting "Ron gave more than 45 years of tireless service to the game of rugby in Scotland and it is no exaggeration to say that every club in the country has benefited from his dedication and owes him a debt of gratitude."

Scottish Rugby have announced that Clubs are being asked to submit results of their fixtures via SCRUMS, with home and away teams both submitting results, as well as the number of tries scored and their team sheets.

Where a discrepancy arise, the Competitions Department will encourage Clubs to communicate and resolve the differences before updating the system.

Further guidance on reporting fixture results can be viewed here.
