West Fixtures - 08 April 2017

Well, here's hoping if you're playing today you have more success than we've seen from the pro boys so far this weekend - fortress Myreside is proving not to be, whilst the 7s have just gone down to Russia in Hong Kong.

In the regional leagues in the West, we only have West 3 & 4 to sort out now (and we're not really sure if there will be an end to West 4).

By the looks of the SRU website, it now two up & two down between each of the Regional leagues, so last weekends results in West 3 guarantee that Strathendrick and Uddingston are being promoted, we just need to sort out who will be champions.

Uddingston are two points behind, but have only one game left, and that's today away at Bishopton.  Endrick meanwhile have two game remaining, so a win today against Birkmyre will see them crowned champions.  Their final game, should they need it, is next week against Police Scotland, who are shown on the SRU website as relegated to West 4.

For whatever reasons, all games were off in West 4 last weekend. Despite all the games that have been put off in this contest, it still amazes us that it's only Argyle & Bute who have been docked points. We have the amazing sight that West 1 & 2 has been fully completed, yet Glasgow Uni Medics have only managed to register seven competitive league results.

Anyway, enough of that, todays games sees first play second.  Lanark currently sit on top of the table, 11 points ahead of Uni Medics, but the Medics have four games in hand.

Due to the number of Clubs who have withdrawn in the leagues above, we're not sure how many teams will be promoted from West 4 - it could be three, so whilst the Championship is between only two teams, there is still possibly relevance as to who finishes third.

Mull currently hold third place on 29 points, Cowal are on 28 and Shawlands are on 23 - each with two games still to play.

Shawlands are scheduled to visit Cowal, whilst Hyndland are down to visit in Mull. Fingers crossed we see completed games, as there's plenty of variations to this battle.
