Agenda 3 – Super 6 update

The SRU have today confirmed the timeline for the development of the Agenda 3 project to form the new “Super 6” league for season 2019/20.

The Super 6 plans were first muted by Mark Dodson at the SRU AGM in August, and the Union have since met Clubs to gather responses to the proposals to restructure the domestic game.

To accompany the Super 6 league, there will be a new Championship and National league structure which will sit atop the Regional leagues.

The new league structure will lead to a clear separation of the amateur and the performance/professional teams, with all Club competitions below the Super 6 operating on a strictly amateur basis.

The application process for Clubs interested in forming a “Super 6” franchise opens on Monday 20 November 2017, with the closing date for submissions being Saturday 31 March 2018.

The announcement on the six successful applications will be made on Friday 1st May 2018.
