As the only one of the three title contenders to play at the weekend, Strathendrick moved into top slot following their 33 nil victory away at Birkmyre. The result puts Endrick 3 points ahead of Lenzie, who have no games remaining so are now watching with the rest of the spectators. Endrick have three games to play, the first of which is Wednesday evening - Birkmyre again.
Cumnock are on the same points as Lenzie, but have two games remaining, a visit to Birkmyre before welcoming Waysiders Drumpellier on 19th May. A single point from either game, and they secure the second promotion spot, whilst two bonus point wins will be required if they hope to beat Strathendrick to the Championship title, though Endrick would still need to lose a couple of games.
Dalziel lost their National 3 relegation decider at Haddington on Saturday, so this confirmed they’ll be playing West 1 next season. With a West Club coming down from the National Leagues, this has the knock-on effect of two Clubs being relegated from West 1 to 2, and two from West 2 to 3.
Birkmyre are already confirmed as relegated from West 2, so the second drop spot is a fight between Waysiders Drumpellier and Millbrae.
Both lost at the weekend, though WD did pick up a lose bonus point away at Clydebank, which means they sit in 11th place, 7 points behind Millbrae. WD have two games remaining and Millbrae four.
Millbrae travel to Loch Lomond on Wednesday, where a win means they avoid relegation. Their other games are Clydebank, followed by WD and then Endrick last game of the season.
WDs next game is their midweek trip to Millbrae followed by a visit to Cumnock on the last Saturday of the season.
For WD to avoid relegation they must win both games, preferably with bonus points, but realistically we expect Millbrae to pick up enough points in their remaining games for them to be playing West 2 next season.
