West League Update - 10th September 2018

It's early days in the league campaign but we have Greenock Wanderers leading the way in West 1 with two bonus point wins.  Allan Glens, East Kilbride and Annan also have two wins apiece and only one point behind.  Somethings got to give this weekend as Glens visit EK. Greenock welcome Stewarty and Annan visit Endrick.

Four Clubs are without a win (including Garnock who have already lost as many league games this season as they they did last) battling it out at the foot.

In West 2, it's 10 points out of 10 for Uddingston, Lenzie, Oban Lorne and Bishopton, whilst at the foot, Loch Lomond & Millbrae are still looking for their first point.

Uddy visit Clydebank this weekend, Lenzie make the trip to Stranaraer to take on Wigtownshire, Oban are away at Helensburgh and Bishopton have a derby game at Loch Lomond.

In West 3, Lochaber are top with two bonus point wins.  Waysiders, Birkmyre and Cowal are still unbeaten but have only played one apiece (technically Clydesdale are still unbeaten, but they'll be due a points deduction for failing to send a team to Shawlands at the weekend).

This Saturday Lochaber welcome Birkmyre in the West 3 game of the weekend, WD visit Moffat and Cowal visit Hyndland. The Uni Medics will be looking to get back on track following defeat to Cowal last week when they host Shawlands.

When it came to our results predictions, it's looking like we would be as well tossing a coin.

A few folk joined in the prediction game, and the clear winner from last week is Bruce Beggans who called 14 out of 16 games (100% in both West 1 & West 2 results).

We'll give a go again this week.  Daniel Williams has already sent in his predictions, and he's gone for a statistical approach identifying probability of a home win, away win and draw, with his algorithm even suggesting a winning scoreline.  We'll stick with gut feel for the time being, but who knows where this will lead.
