It was a victory each for the top 3 in West 1 which means that with two games left, Glens are ahead of EK by four points, and Greenock by 11 (but Greenock do have four games left to play), whilst Garnock, who didn't have a game on Saturday, are now out of the title race.
Glens know that a couple of wins in their remaining two games and they'll be crowned champions. Both these games are away, the first at Strathendrick on 6th April and their final game is against Greenock at Fort Matilda on 20th.
East Kilbride need two wins from their two games, and then have to sit and wait to see if Glens and Greenock drop points. This weekend they welcome Strathendrick, and the following week it's Garnock.
Endrick have already had a victory against EK this season, 35-15 in the Shield at the start of the season, with EK getting revenge with a 27-12 victory in their first league meeting. EK will be favourites, but Endrick are starting to find a bit of form again having won their last three games.
Glens victory against Cumnock on Saturday means the boys from Broomfield can no longer catch Cambuslang in the relegation battle, so they'll be playing their rugby in West 2 next season (assuming it is leagues of 10 that Clubs have actually agreed to).
Cambuslang also had another bit of good news with Hillhead Jordanhill beating Orkney in the battle of the National 3 relegation contenders. The win guarantees Hillhead National 3 status for next season, and means only two will go down from West 1 to West 2 as part of the 10 team league restructure.
Cambuslang aren't yet safe though, as whilst Dalziel lost at the weekend, they did pick up a lose bonus point in their 24-17 defeat at Annan. Dalziel have four games remaining, and are 16 points behind Cambuslang, so can still catch them.
Dalziel are away at Garnock this week, which will be a big ask for them, but if they get at least a point, they keep their hopes of West 1 rugby alive.
Nothing will be finalised in the West 1 title race this weekend, but a defeat for EK would almost certainly rule them out of the challenge. However, we're going with three home wins; East Kilbride, Irvine and Garnock.
In addition to three West 1 games scheduled for this Saturday, Greenock are have their National Shield semi-final against Strathmore.
