West Region Predictor Challenge - 5th October 2019

After the first five weeks of the Predictor Challenge, we're pretty sure many of you were thinking that this was just a little too easy.  Afterall, the average score was running at 73%, whilst we've had several 100% scores as well as many in the 90% + range.

But let's just look at September as a gentle warm-up, and now is the time to get down to the real stuff - this weeks average success rate was 50%, whilst the weeks winning score was only 73%.

Moffat 21.7% v 78.3% Bishopton 0.0% 69

So where do we start in all of this.  Well, based on the percentages, the Challenge scored 8 from 15.  The ones that we got wrong, were well wrong - the widest being Helensburgh v Oban where 91% of entrants went with Oban.  This was closely followed by the Wigtownshire v WD game where 88% of entrants went with Shire.

Where we've been getting several 100% and 90%+ entrants on the weekly results during September, this weeks average has dropped drastically.

Three entrants have scored 11 from 15 (73%) and another three 10 from 15 (67%).

Across the 1,046 predictions submitted for the weekends games played, 523 were correct (50%).

Unsurprisingly, this weeks results have had a big impact on the overall Leaderboard.

David McCrae still leads the way, but his average has fallen from 89% to 86%.

Birney is a new entrant on the Top 10 Leaderboard, jumping straight into second place (but this is by default as Birney failed to submit an entry to this week).

CJD moves up to third with their average falling from 88% to 82%.  The Predictor itself is still in the Top 10, scoring 66 correct predictions from the 82 games played (80%).

To qualify for the Top 10 Leaderboard, we've increased the minimum number of entries to 35.

Through September we had 5 weeks of the Challenge with an average success rate of 73.5%.  That's obviously dropped a bit after this weeks result. We now stand at 167 entrants, having submitted 7,585 predictions across the West Region games played, with 5,328 of those being correct - an average of 70.2%.

The complete scorecard for all entrants is available here.
