At the top of West 1, the results went the way of the Predictor, with the top 3 each winning.
At half time, league leaders Kilmarnock were 21-10 up against Lenzie, so things looked reasonably comfortable, but within ten minutes of the restart, the deficit was cut, and it was game on. In the next ten minutes there was a try apiece which meant that with 20 minutes to go, there were four points in it. Unfortunately for Lenzie, that's the way the score stayed, a narrow win for the league leaders. The win keeps Kilmarnock one point ahead of Stewartry who had a 39-14 win away at Irvine.

West Region Predictor Challenge - 18 January 2020
Pretty decent for the Predictor Challenge this week, scoring 75%; but
one of those that was called wrong, was well wrong, and the WD guys gently
reminded us of that fact.

Whilst the PNOdd Index called 9 from 12 (75%) correct, the average across the 49 entrants was 65%, slightly down on the overall average of 68.9% at the start of the week.
TheMailMan scored an impressive 11 from 12 (nearly 92%) this week (including calling both the Wigtownshire and WD games correct), with Pads and Wee Man scoring 10 from 12.
This weeks results give rise to a number of changes in the overall Top 10 Leaderboard.
TheMailMans impressive scores mean they jump from fourth up to the top spot, with CJD dropping to second.
David McCrae stays in third, with John Dawson jumping from 7th to fourth.

FC97 drops from second to fifth, with the PNOdd Index remaining in sixth place.
There is very little between Top 10, where a poor week in the Challenge will have a big change in positions. For instances, there is less than one correct result between 1st and 2nd, whilst there are only three correct scores between TheMailMan in 1st and the PNOdd Index in 6th (across 198 predictions submitted).
We've had 194 entrants to this seasons Challenge, submitting 14,178 predictions across the games that have been played. Our entrants have correctly predicted 9,739 results (an average of 68.7%).
There's a full fixture card this weekend, with some interesting looking games. We've outlined our picks for the Challenge earlier in the week in the weekly update, and have summarised them below.

West League Update - 12 January 2020
With so few games on, it's just a quick update this week.
We only have five games played across the West Regional leagues, three of them going against the Predictor Index (and by some margin).
Only one game in West 1 this weekend. A win for Glens would have seen them go top, but it was Stewartry who made the most of the conditions, claiming a 14 nil win. This moves Stewartry into second - one point behind Kilmarnock and one ahead of Glens.

West Region Predictor Challenge - 11 January 2020
Only five games survived the weather at the weekend, and amongst those that were played, we have three results that go into the unexpected category.

West Region Results (Men) - 11 January 2020
The festivities are out of the way, and we're well into the second half of the West Regional league season.
A number of interesting games this weekend, with 3rd v 2nd in West 1 looking like a stand-out, whilst 4th v 2nd in West 2 is not to be sniffed at. Add to that 3rd v 1st in Conference 1 of West 3 and 1st v 4th in Conference 2.
Loads to keep us rugby folk interested, but make sure you tell rest of your community about what's going on.

The Gammell Report - A Blueprint for The Scottish Rugby Union
With plenty of adjectives being bandied about (radical, pioneering, progressive, visionary, bold, brave), there is no doubt that the "blueprint" for the Scottish Rugby Union put forward by Sir Bill Gammell as part of his independent review will have a significant impact on the sport of rugby union in Scotland.
