Scottish Rugby Confirm League Placings for Restructured Womens Season

Scottish Rugby have announced that the restructured Womens season, which is due to kick-off in 2019, will include national fixtures in a Premiership and National 1 league, with the remainder of the games being regionalised across East, West and North Clubs.

West Clubs included in the Premiership are: Ayr, Cartha Queens Park and Hillhead Jordanhill.

West Clubs included in the National 1 are: Annan, Glasgow University, Oban Lorne and Stewartry.

The other West Clubs who applied for inclusion in the leagues who will play at regional level are: Ardrossan Academicals, Biggar, Greenock, Hamilton, West of Scotland and Wigtownshire.

At the same time as announcing the league placings, Scottish Rugby also launched a consultation process with women’s clubs to develop the structure for new league and cup competitions.  Clubs have been asked to review two viable options for how the league and cup competitions will be run. This includes agreeing on start dates for the respective competitions, as well as if cup competitions should be run as national or regional pools.
