Predictor Challenge Update - 10th November 2018

With the four West 3 games off, we were left with only seven fixtures this weekend in the Predictor Challenge, but despite the lower than usual number of games, we still managed to pick up a couple of shocks based on the Predictor Odds.

Predicted win %
Draw Count
Allan Glens 92.2% v 7.8% Dalziel 0.0% 51
Annan 70.6% v 29.4% Kilmarnock 0.0% 51
Cambuslang 74.5% v 25.5% Strathendrick 0.0% 51
Stewartry 11.8% v 88.2% Garnock 0.0% 51
Lenzie 84.0% v 16.0% Millbrae 0.0% 50
Strathaven 87.8% v 12.2% Loch Lomond 0.0% 49
Wigtownshire 28.6% v 71.4% Oban Lorne 0.0% 49
Birkmyre p v p Hyndland

Moffat p v p Isle of Mull

Shawlands p v p Lochaber

Waysiders/Drumpellier p v p PSG

The results at the top of West 1 went with the Predictor Odds, comfortable wins for Glens and Garnock, and whilst Annan did beat Kilmarnock, it was probably closer than many of us expected.  It was however the Cambuslang v Strathendrick game that gave us a surprise.

Nearly three quarters of us expected Cambuslang to win, but Enrdick won it 36 - 14, which looks reasonably comfortable.

In West 2, the surprise came down in Stranraer where Wigtownshire took a 31-14 victory against title challenger Oban Lorne.  Over 70% of us had Oban down to win.  Loch Lomond nearly gave us a second surprise result in West 2, as they lost out by only four points against Strathaven - we're guessing much closer than nearly 90% thought it would be.

Despite the two shocks, we had several entrants who this week scored 6 from 7.  Looking at the breakdown of the ones they got wrong, it was pretty evenly split between to the two "shock" results, except from GlensGirl who called those two right, their one wrong was the Annan v Kilmarnock game.

With several on the leaderboard only picking up 5 from 7 at the weekend, we have a few changes in the overall competition, though the main change comes from a couple of new entrants meeting the minimum of two weeks of predictions criteria.

Alan Nugent takes top spot with 85% (who although only scored 5 from 7 this week, did manage an impressive 12 from 13 last week).

Tobin jumps into second place (5 from 7 this week, and 11 from 13 last week) with 80%.

We're now up to 160 entrants since the start of the competition, submitting 5,190 predictions with a success rate of 66%.

We had 52 entrants to the Challenge this week, though the number of eligible predictions was down as a result of the fewer games played.

Our own record was not great this week, scoring only 4 from 7, but overall we're at 68%, so slightly above the overall average. We'll try much harder for next week, but we have a number of tasty looking fixtures (especially in the Shield semi-finals), so it will be no easy task.
