West 3 Update - 20th March 2019

The big game this weekend sees the two promotion contenders fighting it out for pole position.

A couple of weeks ago it was WD who came out of top and took 1st place from the medics with a 34-13 victory, so Uni Medics will be seeking revenge this weekend.  But based on the last game, it will be a tough ask for the Uni boys.

A win for WD and surely they have the league in the bag; a win for Uni Medics and the two will potentially be on the same points.  WD currently have the edge on points difference, but there's not a lot in it.

After this weekend, both have two games left; WD have Birkmyre at home, and then away, whilst Medics have Shawlands away and then at home.

The title could be decided this weekend, or it could go all the way to the last game with points difference being the difference.

Last weekend the weather had a big impact, and as a result we only had one game that was played with Moffat picking up their first competitive league win of the season.  It was a close game against Mull, which saw both Clubs pick up a try bonus, but it was Moffat who took the full points with a 27-26 result.

The other games we have this weekend has Cowal hosting Hyndland.  Both have struggled for consistency this season so it's a difficult one to call, we'll go with home advantage being the big difference but we aren't expecting a great deal in this one.

The final game of the weekend sees Birkmyre making the trip to Mull.  The big question will be how many player Mull have.  When they get a full team on the pitch, they're a dangerous outfit, but they look to be making the most of the West 3 flexibility on playing numbers.  Birkmyres stats are the stronger of the two, so we'll go with an away win, but if Mull do get a full team on the pitch, then this could be a home win.
