West Region Update - 19 October 2019

In the West Shield Quarter Finals, there's wins for Cambuslang, Strathaven, Allan Glens and East Kilbride, whilst in the Bowl, Glasgow Uni Medics go through to the semi-final, whilst Lochaber are into the final.
Shield:
Cambuslang are having a tough time in the league this season, with only a win against Irvine to celebrate, but the Shield is going well for them.

A win against then West 2 leaders Oban in the last round, was followed up this weekend with a win against Strathendrick.  It was a tight affair, going down the last play of the game, but this should give them confidence for the league campaign, as it again shows they're capable of picking up victories against those around them in the table.

Glens continue their winning run, but it looks a close call at 17 - 13 against Lenzie.  The two of them meet again this weekend, but this time at the Bearyards - should be a good one.

East Kilbride had a comfortable looking 43 - 8 against West 2 strugglers, Wigtownshire, whilst Strathaven reversed that West 1 / 2 result taking the West 1 scalp of Irvine (proving the majority of our Predictors entrants wrong at the same time).

The draw for the semi-final of the Shield is:
Strathaven v East Kilbride
Allan Glens v Cambuslang

Bowl:
Only two games in the Bowl, one a quarter-final and the other a semi-final.

Glasgow Uni Medics won the quarter-final at Dillichip 26-10 to set up a semi-final match against Birkmyre on 9th November.

In the semi-final, Lochaber won 47 - 5 at home against Cumbernauld, booking their place in the final scheduled for 7th December.

West 1:
Just the one game in West 1 at the weekend, and it's a tight win for Garnock, which moves them ahead of EK.  It was indeed tight, with Garnock scoring a try & conversion in the last minute, to deny Annan the win, but they does earn a lose bonus point which moves them up a place as well.

Glens v Lenzie this weekend should be a cracker.  Lenzie led at half-time on Saturday, but couldn't hold on - have they learnt from this experience, and if they have it could open the league up big time.

A win for Lenzie, and we could see Kilmarnock join Glens at the top if they win against Strathendrick.  Another couple of games to keep an eye on is Garnock v Stewartry, which is fifth v third, whilst at the foot of the table we have Cambuslang v Annan (10th v 6th).

West 2:
There's a big win at home for Cumnock in West 2, which moves them into second place behind Strathaven.  Paisley move into fourth with their win against Uddy.

Helensburgh win again at home (though in somewhat controversial circumstances it sounds), this time against Clydebank (who also pick up a lose bonus point).  We hope the game was as entertaining as the match report.

West 3:
In West 3, Birkmyre move onto the same points as Uni Medics following their win at Moffat.

Bishopton are now only one point behind Mull after their narrow win against Hyndland.

Lanark pick up their second win of the season in what looks to have been a cracker against Shawlands, where they shared 71 points.  Shawlands pick up a lose bonus.

As usual, caution with our league table as we're not 100% certain the bonus points are correct.
