West Region Fixtures - 18 February 2017
West 4 Update - 17 February 2017
We only had one game in West 4 at the weekend, with Cowal winning the "derby" against Argyll & Bute 53-13. This doesn't affect the top of the table which sees Lanark still on top on 37 points, Mull in second on 34 points, and Glasgow Uni Medics on 33.
West 3 Update - 17 February 2017
Last weekends only scheduled West 3 game should have seen Strathaven traveling to Arran, but this was off as Arran were unable to field a team. Arran have struggled with numbers several times this season and as a result have a number of unfulfilled games to their name, so it's perhaps no surprise that they've announced they're withdrawing from the league.
West 2 Update - 17 February 2017
Whilst the main positions are already confirmed, there's still a few games to be played before the conclusion of the West 2 season.
West 1 Update - 17 February 2017
In the weekends big news, Newton Stewart secured the league title with a game to spare following a
tight 18-15 win up at Oban. Rugby in the south west of Scotland seems to be healthy as Newton Stewart follow Stewartrys promotion a few weeks ago.
West Region Shield & Bowl Update - 17 February 2017
West Region Shield:
Irvine made their way to the semi final of the Bowl at the weekend with a 17-13 victory over Allan Glens, which gives them home advantage in their semi-final against Newton Stewart.
The remaining quarter final between East Kilbride and Carrick was off due to the weather, and is now scheduled to be played this weekend.
The winners of East Kilbride v Carrick game are scheduled to face an away game at Oban on 4th March.
West Region Shield:
In the Bowl, we had two quarter finals played.
Loch Lomond won 26-17 at home against Hyndland, whilst in the other, we also had a West 3 v West 4 contest, but this time it was West 4 team Glasgow Uni Medics who came out on top, winning 22-15 against 2nd top of West 3, Uddingston.
This gives us a semi final line up of Loch Lomond v Glasgow Uni Medics and Lanark v Strathendrick, both scheduled for this weekend.

Isle of Arran Withdraw from West 3
Isle of Arran have this morning posted to Facebook that following their failure to get a team to play their home game against Strathaven today, that they are withdrawing from West 3.
Arrans withdrawal from the league follows McLaren from West 2, and Glasgow East & Glasgow Alphas from West 4. On top of those who have withdrawn, there are a number of other Clubs who have failed to fulfill game due to them being short of players.
We hope that the SRU working Group looking at Club competitions will look into the implications of what is transpiring, at least under their remit of player movements.

West Region Leagues Update - 9th February 2017
What with the Shield and Bowl competitions, and the start of the 6 Nations, there haven't been many West Regional league games to report on in the past few weeks, so we’ll do a quick catch up before this weekends fixtures.
