West League Update - West 3 - 1st May 2018

Prior to getting down to league business, we must commiserate with Wigtownshire who lost out 12-3 to Ross Sutherland in what was close fought contest in the final of the National BT Bowl at Murrayfield.

Wigtownshire have already been confirmed as West 3 Champions, but the second promotion spot was still up for grabs going into the weekend.

Glasgow Uni Medics had no game, so it was down to Bishopton who were on their travels to Mull.  Their 45-15 victory puts them 15 points ahead of the Medics who have two games to play, so is enough to see Bish take the second promotion spot.

Shawlands in fourth are a point behind the Medics, so will be looking for a win against Cowal this weekend to put pressure on third spot.  The Medics have two games remaining, Mull away this week and Bishopton away the week after.  A win in either game would be enough for Medics to hold on to third.

The other West 3 game played at the weekend saw a victory for Lochaber away at Cowal.  This confirms 5th place for Lochaber as they’re 8 points ahead of Hyndland with one game remaining each.
