HSBC World 7s - Dubai

The World 7s Series kicks-off again this weekend, and Scotland are drawn against Kenya, Fiji and France. Looks like an awkward group to get things kicked-off in Dubai.

Day 1: Friday
Scotland v Kenya - 35 - 14
Scotland v Fiji - 19 - 21
Scotland v France - 14 -14

A win, a loss and a draw, on Day 1 is enough to secure (on points difference) a place in the Cup competition on Saturday with a game against New Zealand.

Day 2: Saturday:
Cup Quarter Final - Scotland v New Zealand - 7 - 21
5th Place semi-final - Scotland v South Africa - 0 - 29

New Zealand win the final (21-5) against USA. Scotlands 7th place finish earns them 10 points.

The round 2 of the series takes place in Cape Town next weekend, with Scotland drawn against Australia, Wales and Canada.

Day 2 Highlights Video:

Scotland 7s Head Coach John Dalziel said: “There are no easy groups now with the seeding format and it will be good to test ourselves against two of the top two teams from last season, Fiji and Kenya, as well as a resurgent France side who have a few experienced players back in their squad for the coming season. We are hopeful the experiences this young group have had over the last 18 months can lead to further improvement in what is a huge year for the World Series, with Olympic qualification a huge motivator for many teams.”
