West Region results - 4th February 2023

With an average return of 56.3%, this was our lowest score of the season.  The Index showed a score of 7 from 12, but the ones where the Index was incorrect weren't even marginal with each falling into the "shock" result territory.

For three of the five incorrect results, league positions would have had them close, but our entrants were strongly in favour of one or other.  In the top of the table clashes, Stewartry and Strathaven were both favoured by 65% of entrants and Bishopton at 73% - however the results went with their opponents.

The two others (both West 1 fixtures) definitely fall into the shock category when considering league position.  Cumnock are in the running for second spot and potential promotion play-off place, and were chosen by 97% of participants, but it was Annan who took the points with a 38 - 27 victory.

And then we have Ardrossan Accies who are battling relegation, who took the points against East Kilbride, despite EK being favoured by 75% of entrants.  This win moves Accies four point clear of Carrick, who they visit on Saturday.

Unsurprisingly, none of our entrants managed 100%, in fact the highest scorers could achieve only 9 from 12 with eight entrants sharing this accolade.  Interestingly, none of our previous Top 10 entrants managed even this score.

At 56.3%, week 14s results are obviously well down, so we'll be looking to get back on track this weekend, but with several interesting fixtures, things may be more than a little "Challenging".

In the Bowl, it's Cumbernauld v Birkmyre (2nd v 3rd) and Hyndland v Lochaber (5th v 6th) - all are going well in the league with sights on promotion, so these should be tight.

In West 1, we have Carrick hosting Ardrossan Accies in a 10th v 9th clash - there's only four points between them, so this is a massive game.

In West 2, Uddingston (4th place) host Oban Lorne (2nd place) and Wigtownshire (5th place) hosting Strathaven (3rd place) - each of these teams are in with a shout for promotion, so the games will be keenly contested.
