West 3 Update - 7th January 2019

We have a change at the top of West 3 as Waysiders lost their unbeaten record on the road to Mull.  WD have been going great guns all season, averaging nearly 50 points a game, so this one falls into the shock category (though 15% of Predictor entrants called it correctly).

A 60 points to 10 victory for Glasgow Uni Medics at Hyndland earns the Medics top spot, thanks to picking up a lose bonus in the game they lost to Cowal way back in September.  Both WD and the Medics have played 10 games so have 8 remaining, including each other home and away towards the end of the season - it will no doubt be these two games which decide who wins the West 3 title.

Despite their 20 points to 10 victory, Mull drop a place to 7th as Cowal picked up a 33-26 bonus point win away at Lochaber.

Shawlands closed the gap on Lochaber in third place to two points with a 36-12 victory away at Moffat, whilst Birkmyre recorded a 45 - 28 victory over PSG which means they're now only three behind Lochaber.

This mid-table battle is getting interesting as there's only 8 points between Lochaber in third and Mull in 7th, with Lochaber having played more games than all those hunting them down.

This weekend sees the two top Clubs away at the two bottom Clubs, Medics at PSG and WD at Moffat.  These should see bonus point wins for the title challengers.

West 3 game of the day sees fourth place Shawlands hosting third place Lochaber.  Lochaber had a strong start to the season, which included a 20 points to 17 victory over Shawlands in their first meeting, but their form since November has dipped, so we've penciled this in for a home win, which (depending on bonus points) could be enough for Shawlands to move up to third place.

Birkmyre also have the chance to go third, but they're visiting Cowal who had their impressive win away at Lochaber last week.  This looks like being a tight one, but we're going with home advantage.

In the final game of the weekend, Hyndland welcome Mull.  It was a heavy defeat for Hyndland at the weekend, but prior to this they had won their previous three games so are not to be trifled with.  However, confidence in the Mull squad must be sky high following their win against WD last weekend.  We've got Mull as favourites for this one, but it's no certainty.
