The HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series returned this weekend with the tournament taking place in Hamilton, New Zealand.
It was a good round for Scotland, claiming a fifth place finish, their best finish so far in this Series, adding 13 points to their overall standing.
Day 1 was pretty decent with wins against France and Kenya. In their first game it was a 26-21 victory, having come back from 14 nil down, whilst they won 19-10 against Kenya.
Their third game was against reigning Champions South Africa, and unfortunately Scotland were unable to make it three from three on day 1, losing 26-7, but the two wins guaranteed a Cup Quarter Final, and a game against Pool B winners and current Series leaders, USA.
It wasn't the best of starts for Scotland in this match, conceding a try right from the kick-off, with another couple in quick succession, finding themselves 19 nil down in a handful of minutes.
Scotland showed a great deal of maturity, getting themselves back into the game with a couple of tries. In the final play of the game, it was Scotland who were attacking in the USA 22, and looked to have broken through the defence, only for play to be called back for a soft looking off the ball incident, and a USA penalty.
Despite the disappointment in the Quarter-final, Scotland got back into the groove, with wins against Australia (24-14) and Samoa (24-19) giving a fifth place overall.
Fiji lifted the title, with a 30 nil win over USA.
Round 4 takes place next week in Sydney where Scotland will face New Zealand, Spain and Wales.
